President Jalal Talabani Foundation and Ministry of Environment Agree to Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

On June 2, 2024, a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Environment, including Undersecretary Dr. Jasim Al-Falahi and his colleagues, visited the President Jalal Talabani Foundation.
During the meeting, the Foundation's President, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir, emphasized the Foundation's commitment to supporting the Ministry of Environment. This support will be manifested through capacity-building activities and substantial contributions to promoting environmental awareness and sound environmental practices. The Foundation plans to focus on awareness programs, training sessions, workshops, forums, and other educational initiatives to enhance the skills and knowledge of relevant stakeholders.
Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Sabir also highlighted the importance of promoting tree planting and expanding green spaces. He requested the Ministry's support for projects aimed at increasing green areas and planting trees, particularly in the Park of Martyrs and Park of Ann Clwyd in Sulaimaniyah, due to their importance, along with other similar projects.
Dr. Sabir presented a draft memorandum of cooperation to Undersecretary Dr. Al-Falahi, outlining the key points and requests discussed during the meeting.
Undersecretary Dr. Jasim Abdel-Aziz Al-Falahi expressed great interest in the proposals. He affirmed the Ministry's readiness to cooperate, share expertise, and utilize available resources to improve the country's environmental standards. He also stressed the necessity for institutional collaboration and active participation in addressing the impacts of climate change through coordinated efforts across various sectors.
Both parties agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation in Baghdad in the near future. This agreement will formalize their commitment to mutual efforts and set a plan for joint initiatives to mitigate the negative effects of climate change.
